For this colorful shrub, we infused Bernie's Best raw apple cider vinegar with zest from local grapefruits and blood oranges. We added fresh juice from those same fruits along with raw local honey for a delicious take on the traditional tang of the oxymel (vinegar-infused medicinal tonic). Pastured eggs from Burroughs Family Farm in Modesto, where there are also extensive almond orchards. Benina and her husband follow the methods of pastured egg farming that Joel Salatin began on Polyface Farm. These eggs are certified organic and pastured. These eggs are unpasteurized.
Burroughs chickens eat a wide variety of plants and insects from the dairy's organic pastures. Their diet is supplemented with a mixture of organic grains and minerals, plus supplemental organic, non-GMO feed.
